FOR VIOLA
2023
COLLABORATION WITH VIOLA
VIOLA IS A FASHION DESIGN STUDENT AT CENTRAL SAINT MARTINS.
FANTASY
VIOLA STARTED OUT IN ILLUSTRATION WHERE SHE CREATED FANTASY WORLDS WHICH LED TO HER CREATING OUTFITS BASED ON HER UNIVERSE.
NOSTALGIA
SHE BASED HER ILLUSTRATIONS OFF HER CHILDHOOD AND REFLECTED ON BITTERSWEET MEMORIES. SHE TENDS TO HAVE A COMMON MELANCHOLIC THEME IN HER WORK WHICH CAN BE SEEN THROUGH HER STYLE OF DRAWING AND USE OF COLOUR.
HER ARTISTIC FOCUS REVOLVES AROUND HER PERSONAL ILLUSTRATIONS, OFFERING A FANTASTICAL, SURREAL, AND NOSTALGIC PERSPECTIVE ON THE WORLD.
INSPIRED BY HER UNIVERSE, 3 SECTIONS ARE CREATED (SKY, GROUND AND SEA) AND A RELATED OBJECT IS USED TO FOCUS THE ATTENTION ON THIS. THE CONCEPTUAL VIDEO MAKES IT EASY FOR THE AUDIENCE TO UNDERSTAND HER STORYTELLING WITH HER ACTUAL ILLUSTRATION AND THE DETAILS OF HER GARMENT.
‘BIRD’ - noun
a warm-blooded egg-laying vertebrate animal distinguished by the possession of feathers, wings, a beak, and typically by being able to fly.
CREATES A FEELING OF REMINISCENCE. THE GARMENT IS INSPIRED BY BIRDS AND SO THE COVER FABRIC SERVES AS A RESTRICTION, LIKE A BIRD CAGE THAT POINTS TO THE DESIGNER’S EMOTIONS BREAKING FREE INTO THE WORLD.
FLOWER - noun
the seed-bearing part of a plant, consisting of reproductive organs (stamens and carpels) that are typically surrounded by a brightly coloured corolla (petals) and a green calyx (sepals).
USING THE OFFSET IMAGE OF A SUBURBAN METROPOLIS, THE FLOWER IMAGE IS LINKED TO THIS THROUGH THE USE OF METAL SHOWING A CONNECTION WITH INDUSTRY AND CONSTRUCTION WHILST RETAINING THE FORM OF A FLOWER.
SEAWEED - noun
large algae growing in the sea or on rocks below the high-water mark."seaweed glistened on the rocks"
SEAWEED OFTEN GROWS IN THE LOWEST AREAS FOUND NEAR LAND AND SHOWS GROWTH FROM THE LOWEST LEVEL. THIS IDEA EXPANDS UPON THE DESIGNERS GROWTH AND EXPANSION OF IDEAS SHOWING THE FOUNDATIONS OF THE DESIGN PROCESS.
